After a previous trip to Paris I was invited again but this time to see my one of my favourite all time rappers Nasir Jones most known as Nas. This time I was invited as a guest and got an all access pass at the famous L'Olympia hall venue in the heart of Paris.
It was a great day for me to see one of rap and hip-hops legends whom I can remember I had his tunes on non stop play. His music inspired me to achieve and succeed to be the best. My favourite tune was 'One Mic' it inspired me as it was a number, a singular number, which is all you needed. One Mic.....you only needed one thing or time to be who you want to be, Nas made it sound so easy and so near to achieve that. So to be able to see Nas live, to perform the song that was on repeat on my headset whilst I was at college working hard to achieve that dream. So I felt the need to celebrate that achievement by being there and meeting the legend himself.
The atmosphere was amazing the French are big fans of rap and hip-hop and you can see from the crowd attending this concert.
Backstage was very low key, only several sound and technical engineers making sure everythings is in place, Nas and his crew was made up of very close friends, Iggy Azalea the emerging female rapper from Australia signed to T.I's label Grand Hustle, several DJ's and sound guys of both Iggy and Nas. Plus the famous DJ Green Lantern.
I got to watch both Iggy Azalea and Nas perform in the best area in the venue, both artists got the crowd going, but Nas's performance was rap music at its best. He performed some newer material and then a continuous run of old skool tracks which the crowd knew every single lyric, very different to say a UK crowd. After Nas's peformance I got to meet and chat to Kanye West backstage. As he is also a big fan of Nas and mentioned he had to see him perform live. Kanye West was staying in Paris whilst he was working on material for his forthcoming album.
It was a great night as I got to meet 3 of my favourite artists all under one roof. The legend Nas, the creator Kanye and the New power Iggy Azalea.
Paris never fails as a city for hip hop music and I even managed to pop in again to my favourite store Colette as they were celebrating their 16 years birthday.
